MULTIFUNCTIONAL AUTOMATIC RUNNING CHESS SYSTEM

M A R S

 

MARS is an automatic coputerized demonstration and information system, based on state-of-the-art microcontroler, sensor and semaphore technology, devoted to all of the chess purposes:

                - matches, tournaments, simoultaneus, problems solution competition

                - on classycal, activ and quick games dynamics

                - for cadets, amateurs and master level chess players.

MARS can be used for upgrading of other chess activities, such as:

                - chess education and training

                - chess information system and desk top publishing

                - support on tournament organization,  and

                - TV presentation and broadcasting with chess thematics.

 

                                  SUBSYSTEMS AND BASIC PARTS

 

                MARS  system basically consists of several standard assemblies.

                1. Semaphore, which consists of:

- chess demonstration board sized 2 by 2 m2  with two coloured segments (white/red) for

   automatic demonstration and displying of the game in real and extended time mode

- numerical display for automatic presentation move and time counters, and at end - the scoor

- interface plate for draving the semaphore by the PC computer

- power supply unit, built in the pedestal.

                2. Electronic chess table, assembled of:

- high class tournament chess table in accordance with FIDE standards

- with built in electronic sensor system for detection and recognation chess pieces

- microcontroler-converter for control the table subsystem

- special olympic chess pieces assembly - model MARS

- standard mechanical or electronic chess clock, conected to the table.

                3. System controller

- PC-486 or Pentium, as a Central Control Unit

- with standard configuration and peripherals (monochrome or color monitor, hard disk,

   keyboard and mous, and a printer optionally)

- SW, witch includes modules for test, initialitation, communication, real time presentation,

   games storing and replaying, graphics and games editing.

                Accessories

- power supply and communication cables

- basic tools and set of spare parts

- containers for storing and transport

- how-to-use and service user manual.

 

                                  BASIC TECHNICAL DATA

 

- total system power consumption: 500 W

- voltage supply: 220 or 110 Vac, operating voltage 24 Vdc

- table scanning rate:  3 moves per second (PC-486, 133 MHz)

- semaphore size and weight: 2.1 m by 3.3 m;  300 kg (single system, bruto)

- full  HW and SW modularity of the all subsystems.
